If the login issues were anything to go by, it was clear to many World of Warcraft was experiencing a revival. Earlier in the year, Blizzard revealed that World of Warcraft subscriptions had dropped to 6.8 million. However, Blizzard has announced via press release that after the release of Warlords of Draenor, that number has risen to over 10 million, with growth across all major regions.

We’re thrilled that so many players jumped in to play Warlords of Draenor on day one and are having a great time with the new content. We poured a lot of hard work and passion into this expansion, and we appreciate all the kind words from players and the overwhelming support they continue to show for World of Warcraft.Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.

Despite the rocky launch of the latest expansion, which resulted in the r/WoW subreddit being made unavailable in protest, fans still appear to be clamouring for more Warlords of Draenor action. Blizzard has worked endlessly to address the login issues and by way of an apology, is offering players five days’ free game time if their subscription was active on November 14, 2014.
