Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn suffers from DDoS attacks

FFXIV

Over the last few days many users have experienced login issues when attempting to play Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. It wasn’t sympathy pains for the World of Warcraft players, it was due to Final Fantasy XIV being targeted by an anonymous third-party. This third-party has performed more than one DDoS attack on the game, targeting the game servers on the NA/EU data center.

Due to this attack, our game servers, network equipment and network connection are being hit with heavy load at an extensive level, which is causing a disconnection from the game and login difficulties.

However, Square Enix emphasized that “both character data and personal information of our customers are not in danger of being exposed”. The Final Fantasy XIV technical staff are doing everything within their power to resolve the situation, however, the attacks are ongoing with the third-party “changing their methods at every moment“. In the mean time, Square Enix apologised for any inconvenience caused to players as it continues to work on the situation.
