Halo: The Master Chief Collection can’t master matchmaking
Halo: The Master Chief Collection launched today for Xbox One yet it’s already hitting a rocky patch with its players. Many players have reported having issues with the game’s matchmaking system, with some players having extensive waiting periods to get into an online match, whereas others are completely unable to. The official Xbox support page has acknowledged Microsoft is aware of the matchmaking problems and is currently working on a fix:
According to a representative of Microsoft, due to the game not being available in all regions yet they are currently experiencing longer than expected matchmaking times. The situation is expected to improve, with Microsoft promising “Matching times will improve as we continue to roll out.“. The suggestion to players experiencing problems is to leave the search and attempt to re-enter matchmaking again.
Many big releases that feature online play experience teething problems within the first few days of launch. Although it is obviously a less than desirable situation, I think it’s understandable. The real problem will be if Microsoft fail to address and fix the issue quickly.
