Eidos Montréal unveils new Dawn Engine powering next Deus Ex game

Eidos Montréal has unveiled its brand new Dawn Engine, designed exclusively for PCs and new generation consoles. This new engine is a heavily modified version of IO Interactive’s Glacier 2 engine. With the Dawn Engine, Eidos Montréal hope to create games of higher visual quality:

Our ambition is to build upon and improve both the visual and immersive artistry in our games, whilst also strengthening both the gameplay and storytelling experiences we strive to create.Sacha Ramtohul, Eidos Montréal Community Manager

The Dawn Engine will be the cornerstone for future Deus Ex Universe projects at Eidos Montréal. Sacha Ramtohul, community manager at Eidos Montréal, was quick to reassure fans that by “Universe” the studio is not talking about an MMO. I actually would like to see how that idea would pan out, by I’m not fussed what we get as long as it’s a new Deus Ex game. Ramtohul explained that the term is actually being used to describe the world and lore of the Deus Ex franchise:

Deus Ex Universe is the name we are giving to the fictional world and the rich lore we are creating for it, which will of course include core games, as well as any other projects that will help bring the world of Deus Ex to life.Sacha Ramtohul, Eidos Montréal Community Manager
