E3 is, of course, about the games. However, sometimes it’s hard not to notice the ridiculous annual shenanigans that we’re exposed to while watching companies’ well-rehearsed (or not so) conferences. So here are my 5 non-game related certainties to look out for at this year’s E3.

1) Phil Spencer will wear a t-shirt and open blazer/cardigan and change his shirt at least twice (probably more) during the Xbox conference

Phil is a veteran of the Xbox E3 conferences but he’s only done one conference as Xbox exec following Don Mattrick’s departure (the man behind “don’t have internet, buy a 360″). His notorious fashion choice and the fact that last year he changed his shirt three times in the space of about two hours means this is a sure-fire certainty to see. As if his blazer - t-shirt combo atrocity wasn’t bad enough, evidently Phil suffers from some over-perspiration and between game announcements had to swap-out his various game-themed shirts rather blatantly. Maybe he just wanted to show off his shirts and appear less corporate… but I still like to think it’s the sweating problem.

2) Phil Spencer will frequently have his left hand in his pocket and his right passionately shaking about

Like some kind of dodgy politician, Phil will be adopting the classic thumb-on-fist (as seen above) to emphasise the deep belief Phil has for his company or, more likely, not go for the two-reaching-hands looking like he’s either hatching some dastardly evil plan or auditioning as an opera singer a la head of Sony, Andrew House. Probably a good call.

3) Andrew House will look like an opera-singing, evil genius

4) The audience will become lost and unable to concentrate due to the stunning nature of Andrew Wilson’s chin

Head of EA, Andrew Wilson, is known for his Australian accent, the way he constantly appears to want to fight the audience and, well, that chin. It’s going to be hard this year hearing about how they changed the numbers on their sports games from 15 to 16 while Andrew Wilson’s jaw line is that ungodly. Need I say more.

5) Fails

As with any live event, fails in various forms are almost guaranteed. Previous E3s have never failed to deliver and hopefully this year will produce some more gems such as the one below.
