Pokémon hacking made super effective

Hacked Pokémon aren’t exactly a rarity, in fact they’re more common than most players probably realise. Generally, players have to use devices such as an Action Replay to illegitimately get their hands on some rare Pokémon. However, Pokémon fans have found a simple exploit that uses nothing more than the 3DS camera to get their very own hacked Pokémon. The process is so insanely simple that it’s sure to start a new wave of Pokémon cheaters.

The process was recently detailed on Reddit, it requires that you own a 3DS console and one of the newer Pokémon titles such as Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire. However, this method does not work on the New 3DS consoles. The process is as follows:

  • First and foremost, you need to clear your 3DS browser history and cookies. You can find both options in the settings menu.
  • In game, access your Pokémon storage PC and leave the first slot in your first box empty.
  • Leave the PC box but leave your character standing in front of the PC.
  • Press your 3DS home button and hold L + R together to open up the 3DS camera.
  • Scan and read the QR code of your chosen Pokémon.
  • Wait for the link to open, click ok and then the browser will crash and you can return to your game.
  • When you open up your PC box you will find your Pokémon waiting for you.

There are QR codes for many different Pokémon, Hoopa, Volcanion, Shiny Yvetal, Shiny Xerneas, and AZ Floette can all be found here. The Reddit thread also lists a multitude of other QR codes:

It’s crazy to think that obtaining illegitimate Pokémon can be so easy. As tempting as it is, I want to complete by Pokédex legitimately. Or at least try to. What are your thoughts on hacked Pokémon? Are you all for getting some free rare Pokémon or do you shun players who travel with hacked Pokémon in their party? Let us know in the comments below.

can you make a Shiny Mew QR code? i got the regular Mew but would like a shiny Mew thanks.

Even if the exploit hadn’t been patched, Shiny Mew can only come from the Japanese Emerald Old Sea Map event-so I’m not sure it would work with this QR code thing.
