Ninja Theory’s Hellblade confirmed for PC

Ninja Theory has announced that its forthcoming title, Hellblade, will be coming to PC “alongside the previously announced PlayStation 4 version“. The game is expected to launch sometime this year, although an actual release date remains unconfirmed. The studio stated that it was excited about the possibilities that creating a game for PC offers:

PC offers us fantastic opportunities to engage players in playtesting, usability testing and modding. We plan on grasping these opportunities with both hands to make Hellblade as good as it possibly can be for our fans.

Noticeably, the idea of play-testing being made available because of the PC version could mean a beta made only available to PC users. In an interview with PC Gamer, creative chief Tameem Antoniades also hinted about the possibility of an open beta, stating that it would be easier to do on PC. He also took the time to mention that as an independent studio, Ninja Theory has more freedom in offering play-testing to fans.

If we want to do an open beta right now, it’s a little bit trickier to do that than on PC. Playtesting is a huge thing for us … Not every publisher has let us, because of the secrecy that goes into consoles and publisher-based businesses. As an independent we have the freedom to do that.
