PlayStation Now allows users to play select PlayStation 3 titles directly to their PlayStation Now compatible device. The open beta has been available for some time now, with users being able to rent games by paying per title. However, Sony has now announced the decision to bring in subscription services that will offer “instant and unlimited access to a catalog of more than 100 PS3 games”.

The subscription service will be available for PlayStation 4 owners in North America first, before coming to other PlayStation Now enabled devices in the future. There will be two subscription plans; one month for $19.99, or a three-month package for $44.99. The three-month package offers a saving of about $5 a month by buying in bulk, rather than paying each and every month.

Sony will also be offering a free seven-day trial to the subscription program when it launches. To celebrate the launch of the subscription service, a free PlayStation Now theme will be available for PlayStation 4 users in early January. Presumably this will only be available for North American fans to begin with. You can check out the PlayStation Now launch trailer below:
