What to expect in Neverwinter for Xbox One

Neverwinter is soon to be releasing for Xbox One, while an exact release date remains unconfirmed, the game is due in early 2015. In anticipation of the release, Perfect World Entertainment has released more details on what to expect from the Xbox One version of Neverwinter.

Neverwinter for Xbox One will launch with the Tyranny of Dragons expansion, therefore the Xbox One version of Neverwinter will include all content from the base PC game, as well as the Tyranny of Dragons expansion. It will include all seven classes that were present on the release of Tyranny of Dragons, including the Guardian Fighter, Great Weapon Fighter, Control Wizard, Trickster Rogue, Devoted Cleric, Hunter Ranger, and Scourge Warlock. All class balancing that is currently on PC will also be on the Xbox One. However, the latest class, the Oathbound Paladin, will be coming to the Xbox One version in a later expansion.

However, the story and campaign content will function slightly differently than it did on PC. The Xbox One version will include all dungeons and skirmishes that were present at the PC version’s launch, as well as all those added with the launch of Tyranny of Dragons. However, the Sharandar, Dread Ring, Icewind Dale, and PvP campaigns, as well as the Gauntylgrym zone (along with their respective dungeons and skirmishes), will be released in later expansions for the Xbox One version.

The Xbox One servers and character rosters will be separate from that of PC, providing players with a fresh start in the Forgotten Realms. Xbox One players will not be able to battle alongside PC players, however, they can play with friends from all around the world on an international server. All playable races will be included in the launch of Neverwinter for Xbox One, in addition to the default races, Xbox One players can choose to purchase the premium races such as the Menzoberranzan Renegade, Moon Elf, and Dragonbornas downloadable content.

I checked out the Neverwinter beta for Xbox One and absolutely loved it, you can read my beta impressions here. While before I was on the fence, the beta made me firmly decide that this would be a game that I just had to buy on launch day. Now I just have to eagerly await the release date and hope it doesn’t coincide too much with that of The Witcher 3
