Square Enix has announced its decision to end the service of the old Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone website. Originally designed for designed for Version 1.0, the old Lodestone will close its doors on March 31, 2015 at 8:00 GMT.

Although rarely used these days I’m sure, Square Enix warns that the discontinuation of the old Lodestone means “that all archived data including character biographies, past blog entries, linkshell profiles, and linkshell forums will become inaccessible“. I think some fans may miss their old Final Fantasy XIV memories that are stored there. However, we have a bigger and brighter future to look forward to this year with the release of the first Final Fantasy XIV expansion, Heavensward.

In the mean time, we also have patch 2.5 for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, “Before the Fall” scheduled to release on January 20, 2015. This new patch will add new dungeons, new gear, and most importantly - the implementation of the Gold Saucer.
