FFXIV: Yoshida reveals more details on patch 2.5 for New Year’s Day
Square Enix has already revealed via a livestream on Nico Nico, that part one of patch 2.5 for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, “Before the Fall” will be released on January 20, 2015. However, producer and director of A Realm Reborn, Naoki Yoshida, has revealed more details for fans for the New Year. Before the Fall, will tell the tale of the grand finale of A Realm Reborn’s main scenario quest line in preparation of the new Heavensward plot in the Spring.
When patch 2.5 goes live, it will contain two-thirds of the final main scenario quests, before the curtain closes for the current events with the release of the second part of Before the Fall at the end of March. That leaves Yoshida posing the question, “What drastic turn of events will grant passage to the reclusive nation of Ishgard?“.
Yoshida also revealed that when patch 2.5 goes live at the end of the month, it will also contain three new dungeons and the conclusion of the Crystal Tower quest line and the World of Darkness. We’ll also be able to catch up with Hildibrand on his latest capers, with Yoshida teasing that it may even be his final investigation. It would make sense if it is his final adventure, as patch 2.5 will implement the highly anticipated Gold Saucer, known as the Manderville Gold Saucer. Maybe Hildibrand will be leaving behind his inspector days and gearing up for a future in gambling? The Gold Saucer will include chocobo racing, chocobo breeding, and the fan favourite card game, Triple Triad. Players can also look forward to a new fight against Odin in Urth’s Fount, new gear for gatherers and crafters being added, as well as new recipes and more.
While we wait for patch 2.5 to land, we can keep ourselves busy with the New Year event, Heavensturn, where players can pick up a new minion and new kabutos among other items.
