Animal Crossing Plaza for Wii U will be discontinued tomorrow

It looks like the animals are being put out to pasture as the Animal Crossing Plaza app for Wii U will be discontinued tomorrow on December 22, 2014. Wii U owners can still currently download the app, however, tomorrow it will be removed from the Nintendo eShop, preventing any new users from obtaining it. The Animal Crossing Plaza app was originally released on August 7, 2013 for free. Nearly a year and a half later, it seems a shame to be saying good-bye to the cute social app.

And if that wasn’t enough, on January 5, 2015, the Animal Crossing Plaza community on Miiverse will close. Users will not be able to post new posts however, old posts will still be available to view. Although I can understand Nintendo removing the app, it seems a shame to close the community when Animal Crossing continues to have such a strong fan base.
