Star Trek online honours the late Leonard Nimoy
We’re still reeling from the tragic loss of amazing actor, Leonard Nimoy, best known for his portrayal of Spock in Star Trek. Star Trek Online has honoured the actor with its own in-game memorials dedicated to his memory. Statues of Spock can now be found on the MMO’s versions of New Romulus and Vulcan. The statue on Vulcan is located at the fountain where players gathered to mourn the loss of Nimoy when the news broke. The statue bears the engraving “Live Long and Prosper“. The memorial on New Romulus bears a different inscription: “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.”

Both of the statues also feature a memorial plaque with the names of other notable Star Trek actors that are no longer with us, such as Majel Barrett, James Doohan, DeForest Kelley, and the Star Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry.
This isn’t the first time that an actor has been honoured in a game, only last year Robin Williams was immortalised in one of his favourite games, World of Warcraft. I think it’s a really nice touch when games pay tribute to celebrities that may have helped shape the game, or happened to be a massive fan.
