The existence of two Mario amiibo variants came to light via some Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) certificates from Nintendo. These gold and silver Mario amiibos have not been announced officially from Nintendo, however, one Reddit user has posted a promotional poster from Walmart showing that we at least know where the gold variant will appear.

So the gold Mario will be a Walmart exclusive this Easter, launching the same day as Mario Party 10 on March 20, 2015. Of course, that still leaves us wondering where we will see the silver variant made available. There’s no news as to whether we’ll see these limited edition amiibos in Europe, it’s possible that we might see them as an exclusive to the likes of GAME or Toys ‘R’ Us. It’s also possible that we won’t get them, meaning any avid amiibo hunters might have to fork out for extortionate prices on eBay.
