Microsoft experiencing achievement troubles

If you’ve been gaming lately, you may have noticed that your achievements aren’t unlocking the way they should, or at all for that matter. Even viewing achievements and the achievement trackers appear to be having troubles this evening. Microsoft has acknowledged the problem for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 and has stated that the following services are affected:

  • Accessing or retrieving data stored using cloud storage
  • Posting game performance or viewing the performance of other Xbox Live members
  • Unlocking achievements
  • Viewing achievements

Microsoft has posted a statement on its Xbox Live Status page to state that it is currently working on fixing the known issues:

Hi Xbox members, we’re aware that some users are currently experiencing issues with Leaderboards and Achievements. Our team is engaged and working hard to get these issues fixed ASAP. Thanks for staying patient while we work! We’ll let you know as soon as we have more information.

The Xbox One is normally pretty good at eventually catching up with itself whet doesn’t unlock achievements when it should. However, with the systems being affected to this extent, waiting on your console to figure it out might not be an option and you might find yourself having to re-earn those hard-won achievements.

Microsoft is also aware of issues where players are unable to upload Worlds in Minecraft on their Xbox 360 consoles.
